Patricia Coleman is the Vice-President & Director of Marketing for Bank of DeSoto. She is a 2005 graduate of Leadership Southwest. Her professional movement intertwines with her personal mission. Patricia truly cares about people and her community. She inspires to make our community a better place to work, live and play. Her role as the Vice President at Bank of DeSoto takes her in many directions to help improve our community. As she has recruiting new business, she has established strong partnerships with the City of DeSoto, DeSoto ISD, and the DeSoto Chamber of Commerce. She has taken her experience to the class room to teach youth about the fundamentals of banking, career days and to the community for financial workshops.
She has personalized her business relationships. This is evident by the invitations she receives to attend baptisms, weddings, anniversaries, memorials, grand openings, pastor’s anniversaries, open houses, baby showers and a litany of events.
She has been able to bring top level sponsorship to many of our community events and organizations such as DeSoto Chamber of Commerce, Oak Cliff Chamber of commerce, Duncanville ISD Education Foundation 5k Run, DeSoto ISD, Focus Daily Newspaper, NIA Center for the Performing Arts, DeSoto ISD Principal for a Day, DeSoto Back to School Fair, and DeSoto Parks and Recreation and Music in the Park to name a few. As chair of Leadership Southwest, she secured sponsorships throughout her term to ensure financial stability.
Through her ministry, Girlfriends United Ministries, she has poured into the community by feeding the hungry, providing toiletries and clothing for unwed mothers, Valentine gifts for widows, served in the Genesis Shelter, Viola House, Brighter Tomorrow and Hope Mansion.
Patricia has served on many boards, Chair, Leadership Southwest; Chair, DeSoto Chamber of Commerce; DeSoto ISD Education Foundation; Community Outreach Center and the National Council of Negro Women.
Patricia has received multiple awards because of her authentic service to the community, 2016 Woman of The Year Award, Ambassador of The Year, Volunteer of The Year, Focus Daily News Best Banker of the Year, 2013, 2014 and 2016, Rotary Foundation, Paul Harris International Fellowship Award, City of DeSoto Proclamation, DeSoto ISD Education Foundation Silver Sponsor, Mentorship Award, and Relay for Life Awardee 2014, 2015, 2016.
This is a summary of the good work that Patricia Coleman has provided for our community. She is a true leader and great representative of Leadership Southwest. As the chair, she transformed the format of the program by adding the leadership series. This transformational experience has allowed us to have a greater impact to not only our leaders but to other non-profits in the community. Our reach has broadened as a result and will allow Leadership Southwest to have a greater legacy in our community.
